Why believe in God in a scientific world?

Thursday 22 February 2018 12:00 - 13:00
Sir Alexander Fleming G16
Guest Lecture | Christian Union
John Lennox is Professor of Mathematics (emeritus) at the University of Oxford and Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford. He has participated in public debates with Richard Dawkins on ‘Has science buried God?’ and with the late Christopher Hitchens on ‘Can atheism save Europe?’ Modern man is increasingly confused about the relationship between faith and science, the former being often caricatured as belief in the absence of evidence. Is God a useless hypothesis? Is there any evidence for God? Why does the universe appear intelligible? Has science replaced religion? John Lennox will share his thoughts on the pressing issue of the relationship between faith and science. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy an excellent speaker and to think anew on this important topic. Join us for free lunch from 12pm (sandwiches, fruit, snacks), a 15 minute talk from the professor at 12:15 before Q&A, wrapping up by 1pm.
