    The Council is the governing body of Imperial and is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, finance and governance of the institution. In addition to the Imperial College Union President (who is an ex officio member), Imperial’s University Council has a second student member, who is nominated by ICU Board of Trustees and then formally appointed by the University Council.

    The Second Student Member helps provide a complementary or additional student perspective alongside the Union President during meetings of the Council.

    Serving as a Member on Imperial's University Council is a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain insider knowledge of higher education governance, and make a tangible impact on one of the world's leading universities.

    ELIGIBILITY

    This role is available to current Imperial students who will be as enrolled as an Imperial student or an ICU sabbatical officer in Academic Year 2026/27.
