Rep Training

 The Representation team provide support, training and a Faculty specific induction for new and returning Representatives (Reps). This includes face-to-face training as well as two pre-recorded sessions which will all be made available to Reps in the Autumn term.

If you are a newly elected Rep, you must attend a compulsory induction for your role. The sessions are as follows:

 

Welcome and Wellbeing

The first training sessions that Reps are required to attend will be a face-to-face session (with the ability to join online if required). This session will be an overview of Representation at ICU and will allow Reps to learn about the roles and responsibilities they will undertake. It is a great opportunity to network with other Reps as well as staff from the Union and the College. This year it will be held on the weeks commencing 30th October and 6th November on the South Kensington campus.

When are the sessions? 

If you are unable to attend your training session, there will be drop ins being held week commencing Monday 20th November. A signup will be sent out at a later date.

Effective Meetings/Chairing Communities of Practice

Undergraduate Reps

The second training session that Undergraduate Reps will attend is the Effective Meetings session which will be a pre-recorded session that Reps can access in the Autumn term. This session will provide an overview of the types of meetings Reps will attend with some tips on best practice for engaging in meetings effectively. 

Postgraduate Reps

The second training session that Postgraduate Department and Year/Course Reps will attend is the Effective Meetings session which will be a pre-recorded session that Reps can access in the Autumn term. This session will provide an overview of the types of meetings Reps will attend with some tips on best practice for engaging in meetings effectively. 

The second training session that Postgraduate Rep Chairs and Academic and Wellbeing Officers will attend is the Chairing Communities of Practice session. This session will provide an overview of chairing practices and will allow Reps to share tips on how to chair meetings effectively. This session will take place on the 14th November.

 

Understanding Your Members

All Reps

The final session that all Reps will receive will be another pre-recorded session that Reps can access in the Autumn term. This session will provide an overview on how Reps can collect feedback and data from their cohorts and how they can use this to make meaningful change in their departments.

 

Horizons Reps

There will be separate training sessions for Horizons Representatives which will happen in December due to the Elections being later. This page will be updated as the process for this Elections gets finalised. If you are a Horizons Rep, you can expect to receive the same training as all other Representatives.
