Representative Training

The Representation team provide support, training and faculty-specific induction for new and returning representatives. This includes face-to-face training and pre-recorded sessions which are made available to reps in their first term.

Types of training

Ensure you book into the appropriate training to be fully ready to perform your role.

If you have any questions about which training is best for you, please get in touch at representation@imperial.ac.uk.

If you are a newly elected rep, you must attend a compulsory induction for your role. The sessions are:

  1. Representation Essentials
  2. Effective Meetings and Chairing Training

Representation Essentials training

This is the first training session and is compulsory for all reps to attend.

This session will be an overview of Representation at ICU and will allow reps to learn about the roles and responsibilities they will undertake. It's a great opportunity to network with other reps as well as staff from the Union and Imperial.

UG Yr 1,2 & 3 Representation Essentials (28/10/24 6pm)

UG FoE Representation Essentials (30/10/24 5:30pm)

UG FoNS Representation Essentials (31/10/24 5:30pm)

UG Business School Representation Essentials (1/11/24 12:30pm)

PG FoE Representation Essentials (4/11/24 5:30pm)

PG FoNS Representation Essentials (5/11/24 5:30pm)

PGT Representation Essentials Training (18/11/24 12:30pm)

Effective Meetings and Chairing training

This is the second training session that reps will need to attend.

Undergraduate Department and Faculty Reps, and Postgraduate Representation Chairs, AWOs and Department Reps will need to attend this session.

This will be delivered live as well as pre-recorded. This session provides an overview of the types of meetings reps will attend with some tips on best practice for engaging in meetings and chairing effectively.

Horizons Reps

There will be separate training sessions for Horizons Representatives which will happen later due to the Elections being later. This page will be updated as the process for this Elections gets finalised. If you are a Horizons Rep, you can expect to receive the same training as all other Representatives.
