Imperial's student leaders

Your officer team are here to lead the student voice for all students at Imperial.

Officers take a year out of their studies and work full-time for the union, all to make your Imperial student experience even better.

There are 4 Officer Trustees roles. These are elected students who will lead ICU for the year ahead. There is also the ICSMSU President, who leads the ICSMSU full-time and the Felix Editor who leads and produces Felix, the Imperial student magazine.

They represent you to the university on issues regarding your course, lobby on the issues that matter most to you and work to improve overall student life.

They're here to ensure you have the best possible experience both during your studies and personal life at Imperial. The team works hard for all students to create a positive and welcoming student community.

Get to know your 2025/26 team and their goals below!

Interested in leading ICU yourself? Leadership Elections run every year from February-March, where you can become an Officer Trustee yourself! Check it out here.

Union President

Nico (he/him)

Hi, I'm Nico, and I’m the President at Imperial College Union for 2025/26. I did my BSc in Theoretical Physics and worked as Deputy President (Welfare) last year.

A bit more about me...

Before that, my involvement with the Union was limited to some sessions at DJ & Production Society while I balanced uni and a part-time job.

I’m half Argentinian, half British. I permanently moved to London at the age of 16 to be able to study in the UK. In my spare time I enjoy listening and making music, cooking, and spending time with my two cats, who I tend to mention far too often according to people around me.

Why Imperial?

I love Imperial’s diversity of culture and of thoughts, and the fast pace that comes with it (most of the time).

My goals for 2025/26.

  • Continue hosting open forums with university staff on key institutional topics such as sustainability, investments, and global impact
  • Improve support for students finding accommodation and contribute to the university’s long-term housing strategy
  • Centralise job opportunities and create more roles for students on and off campus
  • Maximise daytime use of Metric as a breakout space when not used for events, with new student roles and a clear day/night shift
  • Push for more study areas and greener outdoor spaces
  • Support the officer team and respond to new challenges as they come!

Deputy President (Activities)

Tom (he/him)

Hi everyone, I'm Tom - your Deputy President (Activities) for the upcoming year! While I came here to study Aeronautical Engineering, I found a real home in Imperial's many Clubs and Societies.

I've explored over 20 of them but spent most of my time involved with the Orchestras and Wind Band. Last year, I became the Treasurer of the Arts & Entertainments sector, representing societies from Dance to Musical Theatre and beyond!

A bit more about me...

My family is from Aberdeen (Scotland) and Rutland, but I grew up near Nottingham (the land of Robin Hood)!

Outside of work, you can probably find me playing the clarinet in one of our music societies or catching up with friends at FiveSixEight. I also created a Roblox game, but you'll have to ask me more about that in-person...

Why Imperial?

What first drew me to Imperial was the world-class facilities. As someone obsessed with planes, the wind tunnels and the flight simulators were really exciting.

One of the things I've really enjoyed about Imperial is being in London, as there's so much happening both on and off campus. Studying in South Kensington means having places like the Science Museum, Hyde Park and the Royal Albert Hall on your doorstep, but the wider city is just as exciting.

My goals for 2025/26.

This year, I want to make it easier for everyone to get involved in student activities, and to make sure that running a club or society is as fun and stress-free as it should be.

To make this happen, I'll be focusing on:

  • Quicker responses and better training for student volunteers, so you're not left chasing the Union for help
  • Growing the Student Experience Fund, so more students can take part in events without worrying about cost
  • Making fundraising easier, with support for things like crowdfunding and simpler donation tools
  • Helping societies connect with alumni — not just for sponsorship, but also for help running career-focused events and panels

Deputy President (Education)

Emina (she/her)

Hi guys, this is Emina, and I am a Biologist turned Bio-Engineer turned Deputy President (Education)!

As a LifeSci student, I was in BioSoc, first organising events and then serving as President. As a BioEng postgrad, I decided to take a step back from clubs and societies work and got involved with the academic rep network as a year rep for my cohort.

A bit more about me...

Nowadays, when I’m not stuck in committee meetings, you can find me nursing my newest Taekwondo injury (it’s healing, I promise) or checking out museum exhibits (a big fan of Tate Britain and the National Gallery).

Why Imperial?

Ironically, I chose Imperial for the research opportunities… only to realise that I don’t actually enjoy research. Don’t tell anyone, but I’m still around so I can see Queen’s Tower without the scaffolding.

My goals for 2025/26.

This year, I am setting my sights on reframing personal tutoring to improve parity of experience across departments and manage students’ expectations, on top of exploring how we can improve Postgraduate engagement.

Last but not least, I’ll be keeping a close eye on Mitigating Circumstances and assessment and feedback developments across Imperial, building on the work I did last year.

Feel free to get in touch or say hi if you see me around campus!

Deputy President (Welfare)

Anson (they/them)

Hi! My name is Anson and I’m your Deputy President for Welfare this year. Last year, I was the Union LGBTQ+ Officer. Alongside my BioEng degree, I might have spent a little too much time with ICSM Drama.

Head shot of Anson in Beit Quad

A bit more about me...

I had the best summer last year doing all things related to technical theatre – from lighting design to production management. I’d love to chat about it anytime. I can also be found trying to make my way up (or down) a climbing wall, cropping thrifted shirts or going out with my friends.

Why Imperial?

Four years ago, after six years at a traditional, single-sex Catholic school, I wanted to be in a (relatively) more liberal and diverse environment, so London it was. The lovely people I’ve met over the years are a big part of why I’ve stayed (cliché, but true!)

My goals for 2025/26.

I want to make sure we all have the space and support needed to survive and thrive. I will look into the provision of common rooms, inter-campus travel and will continue to advocate for culturally-diverse student support.

With the cost of living being a huge issue, I’ll also be focusing on making student life more affordable.

I’ll be around at Officer Drop-ins, so please come say hi, grab a coffee and have a chat with us.

ICSMSU President

Sarah (she/her)

Hi everyone, I'm Sarah and I'm taking a year out of my Medicine degree to be your ICSMSU President!

I have previously been involved with the Union via ICSMSU as the Secretary and Communications Officer, but also through various societies such as Light Opera, Teddy Bear Hospital and Paediatrics.

Headshot of Sarah in Beit Quad.

A bit more about me...

My family is from Malaysia but I grew up in the North East in a relatively large town called Darlington.

Outside of work you can probably find me with Light Opera or adding to my very long list of unfinished crochet projects.

Why Imperial?

ICSM has such an incredibly strong and supportive community. From attending my own Open Day, I already felt like I had begun to find my second family and 5 years on I can confidently say that that has remained true.

My goals for 2025/26.

  • Continue building our community with a focus on our Widening Participation (WP) students and how ICSMSU and FoM can best support them
  • Champion the student voice via our representation team to ensure all your ideas, concerns and expectations are heard
  • Promote, support and encourage more student-led WP and EDI projects
  • Strengthen relationships with the other Constituent Unions to stimulate effective change

Felix Editor

Guillaume (he/him)

Hey everyone, I’m Guillaume, the new Editor-in-Chief of Felix on a sabbatical from my degree in Biochemistry! I was previously the Opinion editor of the newspaper.

I was also involved in advancing sustainability at Imperial through projects like the Green Careers Fair, in addition to founding the European Society a few months back!

Guillaume in Beit Quad

A bit more about me...

I was born and raised in Paris to a French family, but I love languages and I’m always trying to work on my Spanish and Russian when I have free time.

I used to spend long hours playing the guitar before I was shackled to the library, and I’m looking to rekindle my passion for music this year. Nowadays, an outrageous amount of my time is dedicated to browsing Wikipedia.

Why Imperial?

I chose to study at Imperial both because I knew outstanding academic resources would be available here to make the best of out my degree, and because I wanted to be part of an international and diverse community.

My goals for 2025/26.

I would like to accelerate the transition of Felix into digital and multimedia: this means better content availability on the website, finishing the digitalisation of the Felix archive, posting more article-based and interview videos on social media, diversifying beyond Instagram, and more! I want to make sure Imperial students can all engage with Felix to the fullest no matter their platform of preference.

I also believe Felix should be a student-focused newspaper, which implies conducting more surveys and interviews of the Imperial community, all while retaining its professional accuracy and style. To do so, we will need to expand our teams – why not join Felix? Anyone is welcome!
