The Trustee Board is the sovereign and governing body of the Union. It oversees the workings of Council, the Executive Committee and Court and ensures that their actions are in keeping with the Union's aims and objectives, it's constitution and the law. It also examines the Union's accounts and annual report and approves the yearly budget. Furthermore, it can create sub committees to consider and execute business away from the full board meetings. The Board is composed of a mix of ex-officio, Student and Lay Trustees. An ex-offico Trustee derives their status as a consequence of taking a certain position - the President, Council Chair and court Chair are all ex-officio Trustees. Four Student Trustees are elected directly from and by the student body, and hold no officer position. Lay Trustees are members of the wider community who might bring a certain skill set to the board, and are appointed by Council.
