Nominate College and Union staff to reward and celebrate their outstanding contribution in any of the below categories. Please note that only current Imperial students can nominate for an award.

Outstanding PhD Supervision

A supervisor who dedicates time and knowledge to support and guide students’ research while promoting a healthy work-life balance. This individual helps students see the wider picture within the narrow focus of their research, while broadening and developing their skills for both research and beyond and encouraging them to take care of their mental health.

    • Exhibits openness and availability to students
    • Provides appropriate feedback and support throughout
    • Promotes healthy work-life balance and student wellbeing

Outstanding Personal Tutoring

A tutor who provides academic & wellbeing advice and guidance, and supports students in times of need and uncertainty - particularly important over the last year. They are accessible, demonstrate proactive engagement with students, and foster a positive student-staff relationship.

    • Offers high quality pastoral care and support
    • Takes steps to be responsive and available in a remote environment
    • Is proactive and open to support tutees with a range of issues

Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant

An individual that brings course material to life, and engages students' questions and concerns with patience and understanding. They go the extra mile to support students online or in person, giving attention, feedback and inspiration through their mentoring.

    • Exhibits effective demonstrating and accessible guidance
    • Offers detailed and personalised feedback
    • Acts as a mentor and role model to students

Outstanding Teaching

An individual who demonstrates inventive teaching methods fit for online or multi-mode delivery.  They provide intellectually stimulating content and challenge students to achieve their best whilst fostering an inclusive and diverse culture.

    • Demonstrates enthusiasm to the subject matter
    • Use of innovative and accessible teaching methods for mixed-mode or online delivery
    • Contributes to the improvement of student learning and assessment

Outstanding Professional Support Staff

An individual who is not an academic who provides additional support and guidance, with a focus on the holistic student experience. They've made efforts to ensure important elements of the student experience have carried on this year.

    • Uses experience and knowledge to help students
    • Has supported adapting extra- and co-curricular activity online
    • Demonstrates a student-centred approach to work

Outstanding Contribution to Student Community and Wellbeing

An individual committed to fostering a positive relationship between staff and students. They prioritise and celebrate equality, diversity and inclusivity, and present opportunities to discuss student wellbeing and create an open space for the discussion of mental health.

    • Proactive in creating ways to enhance the student-staff community
    • Role models an active approach to prioritising student wellbeing
    • Celebrates the diversity of the student body and takes steps to ensure activities are inclusive and accessible
