SSDP Imperial are proud to welcome an exciting line-up of harm reduction experts for the 'Harm Reduction in Action: Psychedelics and Beyond' event on 20th June, 6-8:30 pm. During this event, you will get an overview of harm reduction principles, the development of opioid overdose prevention centres, a trip-sitting workshop, and discussion of cultural awareness in psychedelic spaces.
Amanda Guzinska is part of the core team at PsyCare UK (charity no. 1167203): a charity that provides trip sitting and harm reduction care at many UK festivals including Noisily and Secret Garden Party, and previously Boomtown. Amanda will provide an excellent trip-sitting workshop to equip you with the tools to guide a friend experiencing a challenging psychedelic experience.
Benjamin Scher is a DPhil Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation student at the University of Oxford. Ben has been working alongside Drug Science to build a case for the UK government to permit the operation of an overdose prevention service (OPS) in Sandwell – West Midlands.
Meena Thiagaraj works as a freelance pharmaceutical consultant and recently founded PsyTara: a psychedelic peer-support non-profit with an emphasis on cultural attunement. Having experienced a lack of cultural awareness and diversity in psychedelic spaces, Meena saw a need to educate and train diverse peer-support volunteers to make everyone from all backgrounds feel safe and welcome in psychedelic spaces.
This event will be in-person only in Room 301D, Royal School of Mines Building, South Kensington Campus. 100% of ticket sales will go to PsyCare UK to support their important work at festivals across the UK.
