Rep Conference 2014

On 19 February 2014, Imperial College Union held its first ever Rep Conference.

Themed around the question What Is Excellence?, this free half-day event brought together Academic Representatives and College staff to discuss the future of staff-student interaction at Imperial College London. Delegates heard keynote speeches from senior College and Union speakers, and took part in workshops designed around four sub-themes:

  • Delivering Excellence
  • Campaigning for Excellence
  • Rewarding Excellence
  • Measuring Excellence

Throughout these sessions, we touched upon the National Student Survey, teaching awards, the effective use of staff-student committees, the role of the Union, personal tutoring systems, and more. Sessions were led by a mix of current students, Sabbatical Officers, College academics, Union staff and external speakers.

The Conference was held on the afternoon of Wednesday 19 February, in the Union Building in Beit Quad (by the Albert Hall), with free attendance and a social reception afterwards.
