Rep Training

The Representation team provide support, training and a Faculty specific induction for new and returning Representatives (Reps). This includes face-to-face training as well as pre-recorded sessions which will all be made available to Reps in their first term.

You must make sure you book onto the appropriate training in order to ensure you have received appropriate training for your role. If you have any questions about which training is best for you, please get in touch.

If you are a newly elected Rep, you must attend a compulsory induction for your role. The sessions are as follows:

  1. Representation Essentials
  2. Effective Meetings and Chairing Training

 

Representation Essentials

The first training sessions that ALL Reps are required to attend will be the Representation Essentials session. This session will be an overview of Representation at ICU and will allow Reps to learn about the roles and responsibilities they will undertake. It is a great opportunity to network with other Reps as well as staff from the Union and the College.

Effective Meetings and Chairing Training

Undergraduate Reps

The second training session that Undergraduate Department and Faculty Reps will need to attend is the Effective Meetings session. This will be delivered LIVE as well as pre recorded. This session will provide an overview of the types of meetings Reps will attend with some tips on best practice for engaging in meetings and chairing effectively. 

Postgraduate Reps

The second training session that Postgraduate Representation Chairs, AWOs and Department Reps will attend is the Effective Meetings session. This will be delivered LIVE as well as pre recorded. This session will provide an overview of the types of meetings Reps will attend with some tips on best practice for engaging in meetings and chairing effectively.

Horizons Reps

There will be separate training sessions for Horizons Representatives which will happen later due to the Elections being later. This page will be updated as the process for this Elections gets finalised. If you are a Horizons Rep, you can expect to receive the same training as all other Representatives.
