Welcome Week 2026

Who are we?

When you enrol at Imperial, you automatically become a member of the union. This gives you free access to all of our services, events and activities.

We’re run by democratically elected Imperial students, who are supported by a full-time staff team, ensuring the student voice is represented and championed at all times.

We’re also an independent organisation from Imperial, meaning our policies and decisions are student-led and we can give constructive and impartial feedback and action to the university.

Find out more about us here.

Our Imperial College Union handbook is coming soon.

Everything you need to know about Welcome Fair 2026

Join a club or society

Not sure where to start when picking a club to join? We’ve got you!

With over 380 clubs and societies to choose from, this is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills, or simply have fun!

From K-Pop to chess, and football to robotics, and everything in between, you're bound to find something for you.

Welcome Fair is the place to be to meet all our amazing clubs and societies, and get answers to any questions you may have.

Many clubs and societies also offer taster sessions at the start of the year through our Give it a Go programme, allowing you to try out the club activities before buying a membership!

You can view all our clubs at our Clubs and Societies A to Z, and if you still can't find what you're looking for, why not take the lead and start your own!

All things social

Whether you're down for curly fries and a drink at the union, a creative workshop, or a big night out, Beit Quadrangle is the place to be.

Between our 3 bars, food outlet, retail store, convenience store, and nightclub, we’ve got you covered. And what's more, we're also a non-profit organisation so anything you spend goes back into improving services for you.

The union is the social heart of campus, where we host regular parties, socials, workshops and more. Come down any day of the week for a drink or bite to eat, with major events usually on Wednesday - Friday during term times.

You can see all our Welcome Week events above, and you’ll be well acquainted with all our venues soon enough, as we’ll be hosting a range of events across them all. Our clubs and societies will also have many events happening, so you won’t be short on choice!

Stay in-the-know with everything happening at @icunion and @icunionvenues.

Advice & support

Studying in a high-performance environment like Imperial doesn’t come without its challenges, and we’ll be here to help you every step of the way.

Our professional and independent Advice team are here for all Imperial students to support you through a range of academic and non-academic issues.

There are also close to 100 wellbeing representatives, who are students just like you, across a range of faculties, departments and study types, that raise any wellbeing concerns to ICU and the university.

Make change on campus

Can’t wait to get stuck in? We encourage all students to get involved and share their thoughts by voting for or running in our student elections!

You have the power to shape your learning experience, defend the interests of under-represented student communities, and ensure your voice is heard at the highest levels of decision making.

Autumn Elections are coming up soon, with our major annual elections taking place in March each year. Don’t miss your chance to stand up and make change, whether that be running for a position or casting your vote!

Communities

There are ten Liberation and Community Networks representing students from under-represented groups.

Beyond your Officer Trustees and other student representatives, these networks provide a safe space specifically for students identifying with these cohorts and help build communities and visibility on campus.

As well as being a support network for students part of these groups, they also organise campaigns, events and initiatives to tackle problems their members may face.
