Introducing Your 2026/27 Officer Team!

Your new leaders were democratically elected when almost 25% of Imperial students voted during the Leadership Elections in March, and now it’s time for them to take the lead for the year ahead!

With a mostly brand new team for this year, we hope you make them all feel welcome, and get involved with committees, forums, and drop-ins to help them, help you, shape the future of the Imperial student experience.

Daniel Zhuo (he/him)

Union President

Hi everyone! I’m Daniel, and I’m excited to be your Union President this year.

Having spent the past three years as CGCU President, some of my favourite moments at Imperial have come from meeting our students, supporting brilliant student-led ideas and seeing what can happen when people from across our community work together. I’m really looking forward to bringing that experience into this role and getting to know even more of you over the year ahead.

My main focus will be turning student feedback into practical changes that makes life at Imperial better. I want to improve exam-period support and access to study spaces, create more paid opportunities for students, and make sure students are involved earlier in the decisions that affect them.

I’m also excited to strengthen connections between students, alumni and the wider Imperial community, while making it easier for student representatives, clubs and societies to bring their ideas to life.

Most of all, I want the Union to feel like somewhere you can turn to, get involved and genuinely make a difference. I can't wait to work with the new officer team and student reps, visit different campuses and meet as many of you as possible. So, see you guys around!

Deputy President (Activities)

I’m really honoured to be your Deputy President (Activities) this year!

My involvement with the CGCU over the last three years has given me first-hand experience of the time, energy and commitment all of you put into respective societies, and I want to make this easier for you.

One project lined up is a society AI agent which can give committees quick guidance on finance, event planning, bookings and many other things integral to the smooth running of clubs and societies. I am also looking to create an Activities Hub where students can find activities more easily and societies can share resources and collaborate with one another. Alongside this, I will work on fairer storage allocation, clearer funding processes and faster, more reliable support.

Most importantly, I want to listen to what matters to you. If you see me around campus feel free to stop me for a chat or just come say hi!

Jacob Eyre (he/him)

Deputy President (Education)

Congratulations on making it to my section of the blog!

I'm super excited to be your Deputy President (Education) this year. This is my fourth year being a rep, I've dabbled in a few clubs over the years (I can now eggbeat courtesy of ICSM waterpolo), and I'm a pretty regular frequenter of the Union bars.

This year, I really want to work on improving parity of experience between campuses, levels of study, and departments, whether that's around guidance on AI, personal tutoring support, study space, or mitigating circumstances. I also want to work on how we communicate rep wins to all of you by diversifying and tailoring our communications to specific groups, rather than just relying on emails. I want to continue the work of building our representation network and improve ICU's transparency and approachability.

Sarah Azam (she/her)

Deputy President (Welfare)

After an action-packed year as ICSM President, I'm ready to hit the ground running as your new Deputy President (Welfare). The previous team have done some absolutely fantastic work in improving the student experience, and I'm excited to champion this in the year ahead.

I've loved spending the past year working directly with students and advocating for change within the ICSM community and I'm keen to bring those skills into this new role.

My priorities centre on three themes: affordability, accessibility and inclusivity, and community. I want to make sure that every student is well supported across all aspects of student life.

I've had my ups and downs at Imperial, but I can now confidently say I've found a home here. That's what I want every student to feel - so they can graduate with pride, knowing they truly belonged.

Isaac Cowley (he/him)

ICSMSU President

Hi everyone, I am very excited to be taking on the mantle of ICSMSU President for the upcoming year. I have loved spending time within the ICSM community and I look forward to spending the year working for everyone within it. Do not fear if you aren’t a medic I have plans for improving Reynolds that will benefit the wider Imperial community and not just medics too.

One of the many things I want to achieve is improving the quality and provision of the Reynolds gym. Currently the equipment is old and not looking its best, alongside the fact it is consistently way too hot down there. It needs to change and I look forward to working with MOVE Imperial to deliver this for all the students that use the space.

Furthermore whilst student financial support is getting better, more can be done with better accessibility and sign posting to support. In particular I want to aim for our SU to increase the availability and support of our current bursary ticket scheme that is offered at key landmark social events like Final Year Dinner.
