ICSMSU Vision is medical-student-led society which aims to widen participation in medicine by holding events for prospective medical students from local state schools.
Each year we run 3 large conferences for students, consisting of inspirational talks from practising doctors and tutorials run by a large number of medical student volunteers. UCAT BMAT Day is aimed at Year 13 students to prepare them for entrance exams. The Mastering your Medical School Application (MMA) Day is for students who are in the current application process, and we provide delegates with individual personal statement advice, ethics and a mock interview. The Junior Medics Day in November is aimed at Year 11-12 students, aims to give students some insight into life in medicine, so tutorials given are practical and based on clinical cases.
We also run a 'Roadshow' programme where volunteers go into schools to speak to potential medical students. We also hold several smaller workshops throughout the year.
Our success is completely dependent on the enthusiasm of our volunteers and committee members, with over 150 ICSM Students being involved with our events every year!
To get involved please purchase membership, this will add you to our mailing list and we will contact you with volunteering opportunities both at our conferences and on the Roadshow programme. We elect a new committee each spring.
