Imperial College String Ensemble (ICSE, pronounced 'ick-see') is dedicated to performing the extensive and diverse repertoire composed just for strings. Our musical director is Chris Braime, who helped found the society back in 2004 from talented string players from the two larger orchestras who wanted the more intimate experience of a string ensemble. As the College's only ensemble just for string players we offer a very different experience to the symphony orchestras. Rehearsals are relaxed with light refreshments, but the music is always challenging and every member has the chance to make a difference. We perform concerts every term in the local area, as well as taking part in other exciting events throughout the year such as the Great Exhibition Road Festival. A variety of events are held after rehearsals, making Friday nights worth looking forward to - from dinners to house parties to games nights! Plans for 2021/2022 include a weekend away in February to the Cotswolds which is likely to be the highlight of the year. Our first rehearsal of the Autumn term will be on Friday 8th October in the Great Hall at 6pm (baton down at 6.15). If you're interested in making yourself heard as a string player, why don't you join us? Drop us an email at icse@ic.ac.uk if you have any queries! Or join our mailing list: tinyurl.com/ICSELOVE
