Model United Nations is a forum within which delegates represent a country in one of many United Nations committees and work with other delegates to address a specified topic of global concern. This involves research on the position of your country on the given topic and previously implemented measures, debate within the committee to identify causes of the problem and plausible solutions, persuasion and negotiation to rally support of other delegates and networking.
At ICMUN, we train our members to develop skills of leadership, communication, research and analysis. While the skills developed through MUN are of course useful for a career in diplomacy or politics, these are skills that are also essential for a career in almost any field: science, research, engineering, consulting and banking among others.
As a delegation, we attend conferences at University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, and the London International Model United Nations which Imperial has hosted for the past 4 years. Our delegates have also traveled internationally to attend Harvard's WorldMUN: the largest conference in the world, renowned as the 'Olympics of MUN'.
No prior MUN experience is required. The experienced ICMUN committee will guide you through everything. So if you want to be one the future leaders, in politics, business or any other industry, or if you're just looking to develop your soft skills, come by or write to us to find out more about what we do. We look forward to seeing you at our exhilarating, challenging and thought-provoking debates held every week on campus.
