Kendo

Category: Martial Arts
Kendo is a Japanese martial art that teaches traditional swordsmanship using bamboo swords and body armour. We are a beginner-friendly club so come along and try it for yourself!

This ancient martial art was passed down through centuries of civil strife between the ruling Samurai classes of medieval Japan. Kendo players wear tough body armour and use bamboo swords in lieu of the steel blades used in ancient times.

Imperial College Kendo Club is now in its 25th year and has had a long and glorious history. The club is very friendly and as a member, you will get the training and the chance needed to compete in official British Kendo Association tournaments and attend various Japanese cultural events during the year.

We will no longer be accepting any new beginners after November 2nd 2022. If you miss this date but are still interested in practicing kendo we will be more than happy to recommend any external kendo clubs.

Training times for this year (starting from October 24th):
Monday: Beginner 20:00 - 22:00, Activity Space 2
Wednesday: TBC (Due to room booking issues)
Thursday: Experienced 20:00 - 22:00, Activity Space 1
