The Geriatrics and Elderly Medicine Society (GEMS) is a student-led society that holds numerous talks by guest speaker specialist consultants about issues facing elderly care and a career in the field, which are always accompanied by cake and refreshments when in-person! Any research opportunities to delve into the field found will be shown in our newsletter (so make sure your sign up to our mailing list!). Our mock OSCE stations and tutorials will run throughout the year to tackle tricky concepts in geriatrics medicine, alongside fortnightly SBAs on our instagram to test your clinical knowledge for your exams frequently. GEMS has also been home of the exciting Project Stars volunteering programme over recent years, where medical students previously mentored groups of sixth form students as they volunteer together in a local care home.
