The Student Voice Conference is back for 2026. Join the Representation Team at Imperial College Union for a day full of sessions focused on careers & employability, effective meetings and chairing, and campaigning and changemaking.

This is a fantastic additional opportunity in your role as a student volunteer and is not one to be missed. We will provide you with further training and information on the power you have in your role as a representative, as well as skills you can use in your onward career; therefore, we highly recommend you attend.

This event is free to attend and is available to all student representatives (inc CU officers), union council representatives, and those part of a liberation and community network.

Session descriptions:

Changemaking

This session is an opportunity to learn about the current policy-making and campaigning work happening at ICU. Understand our models of advocacy and influencing to lobby for the changes students want to see and learn how this relates to your role, the ways you can get involved and practice using your skills and knowledge as representatives to make change.

Chairing

Develop your skills in chairing meetings to support you in your role and beyond. Whether it is chairing Student-Staff Committees, project groups, or a skill you want to gain for your future, this session will support you to understand key tips to gain consensus, facilitate conversation amongst different individuals, and successfully lead meetings.

Careers

Learn how the skills you’ve developed as a student leader can help you in your post-University life through hearing from ICU and University experts. Whether your journey will continue into an internship, full-time career, or into postgraduate research academia, in this session, we will help you to practice articulating the skills you’ve gained as a student leader to help open doors to future opportunities.

Social

After the sessions, from 4.30pm - 6:30pm we will be hosting a student volunteer social in Union Bar with pizza, board games and drinks vouchers, where you can get to know each other in a casual setting and have some time out from a busy term.
