Are you an international student? If so, you may be owed a student visa fee refund.

A House of Lords Committee has highlighted concerns that international students who paid UK Student or Child Student visa fees from October 2023 onwards, may have been overcharged by around £127 - £161. This may affect both current students and alumni. However, the Home Office maintains that the fees were lawfully charged and has not agreed to issue refunds.

Calls for redress have continued, with the issue raised in Parliament and a petition calling on the government to review the fees and refund students who were overcharged. The petition is open until 19 December 2026. You can read more about this issue and see the petition here: Review and refund overcharged UK Student and Child Student visa fees.
