Student Experience Fund Update

At the start of term, we launched the Student Experience Fund for the second year running, with the ongoing support of Imperial College and the Imperial College Trust.

The Student Experience Fund (SEF) enables students who would otherwise not be able to participate in clubs, societies and events to do so by providing credit to spend on their union accounts.

The fund this year has already been launched to bursary recipients. If this is you, you can spend your allocation when you check out of the student group shop!

In fact, the fund has already seen huge success, with over £11k spent in the first month – more than this point last year. We’d love for as many recipients as possible to make use of it, so make sure to encourage your friends to check if they’re eligible too.

How do I access it? Simply buy a product as normal, and at the point you would normally input card details, select “Student Experience Fund”.

How much do I get? The amount received will depend on your bursary tier. Amounts vary between £25 and £70.

Last year we only released the fund to Imperial bursary recipients. The fund saw great success, with almost £36k spent, but this year we wanted to go bigger and better.

Bursaries are only offered to home undergraduate students, but we understand that many students who are not eligible for a bursary still face financial hardships. The purpose of the SEF is to enable everyone at Imperial, regardless of their background, to engage with extracurricular activities and, as such, we are opening applications to all students in November.

As the fund is still in its infancy, we realise that not everything about it will work perfectly yet. We’d love to hear from you, regardless of whether you have used the fund or not, so that we can make the fund as effective and inclusive as possible.
