Beit quad on a blue sunny day

With works on campus to refresh the Sherfield study space, Emina and Camille have been working on compiling study spaces for you on and off campus to make sure you've got a spot to knuckle down this assessment season.

Hello hello!

As you might’ve already noticed, the beloved Sherfield level 3 student space shut down last term, and is due for a relocation to Sherfield level 4 at the end of May.

As we know that this comes at an assessment-packed time, we thought we might help out by reminding you of and sharing some study spaces on and off campus that you can use while the new space is loading.

Starting off strong with non-departmental spaces on the South Kensington campus:

GoStudy Spaces
Sir Ernst Chain (SEC) building from levels 4-6.

Fit with group and solo study rooms, it’s also got a spacious kitchen on level 4. Don’t be discouraged by the flat seminar style rooms on level 6 - they’re a great area for you to either get some group work done or smash out some past papers solo.

Seminar and Learning Centre (SALC)
Level 5, Sherfield Building through the Blyth Gallery.

They offer a handful of conference style rooms where you can either prep for a group presentation or group/solo study. DISCLAIMER: These rooms have a tendency to be booked out by departments so you would have to check on CELCAT if they’re free for you to use.

Close by to the South Kensington campus we’ve got:

Dana Research Centre and Library
165 Queen’s Gate (on your right as you come towards campus from Gloucester Rd Station).

Open to Imperial students of all study levels from Monday to Wednesday (10.00 to 16.00), all you have to do is wait at the entrance for someone to buzz you in. Once you’re signed in you get to enjoy everything that cozy space has to offer. Check out a demo of how to sign in on our Instagram coming soon!

Royal Brompton Library
SW5 0BS

For those of you living in the Fulham area, this is a great spot close to home for you revise in without having to make the trek to campus.

Fulham Library
SW6 5NX

Mon-Thurs 10.00-19.00; Fri-Sat 10.00-17.00. Public libraries are sprinkled around the boroughs and free to use by the public - so make sure you track down one that’s close to you.

Our Charing Cross campus is another great spot for Hammersmith & Fulham residents to get work done at. For those unfamiliar with the campus we’ve got the following in the Reynold's Building:

  • Reynolds Bar as more of an informal space
  • Reynolds Library just a couple floors above
  • PC Cluster room on level 2 - perfect for solo and quiet study
  • First floor mezzanine if you’re looking for a breakout space (£1 hot chocolate comes in clutch)
  • Examination rooms on level 1 are also a shout (when empty) so make sure to check CELCAT for availability
  • Basement PC cluster room if you’d like to try out studying in a time capsule from the 00’s - perfect for quiet group/solo study

Got any others we've missed? We'd love to hear from you!

Happy studying!
