Both the Activities Team and the Representation Team within the wider Membership Services Directorate at ICU have created their own frameworks for rewarding and recognising the student volunteers they support.
For both teams, the reward and recognition opportunities are split into four key pillars: impact, community, visibility, and employability.
Below, you can see each team's approach to reward and recognition this year and what you should keep an eye out for.

Volunteer of the Month
How it works
Together as a collective community of student volunteers and a permanent staff team, ICU holds ourselves to account via the three underpinning values of integrity, inclusivity and innovation as part of our strategy.
The Volunteer of the Month scheme acknowledges where student volunteers have mirrored these three core values and carried these into their work.
Each month the Activities Team will run their Committee Member of the Month initiative, whereas the Representation Team will run the Rep of the Month initiative. Both follow the same timeline and processes and are part of the wider Volunteer of the Month scheme.
Union Awards
ICU's annual awards night to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our amazing student volunteers. What is it all about?
As part of ICU's reward and recognition programs for student volunteers, the Union Awards are the highest level of recognition. This annual event is where we celebrate and platform key student volunteers, as voted by the Imperial community, as a way to wrap up the year and thank you for making Imperial amazing.
The Union Awards:
- Recognise incredible teaching, student support, and overall student experience.
- Celebrate the hard work of student volunteers and building a strong, supportive community.
- Thank staff members who go above and beyond to support students at Imperial.

Recognition framework
Please note some of this is yet to be in place. Student volunteers will be notified appropriately when certain opportunities come into fruition.

Joe Bloggs has been an exceptional department representative for History. They are always available to students, are approachable and will dedicate their time to finding solutions to issues raised. They gather feedback from our department across numerous different ways such as Padletet and in person engagement opportunities and always lets us know the outcome of any conversations.
