BJJ/Judo Ne-waza training 25/10
Come and train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Judo groundwork with Imperial Judo Society!
Our Sunday grappling sessions are open to everyone, from complete beginners to experienced grapplers. No previous martial arts experience is required.
Sessions focus on Judo ne-waza (groundwork), incorporating grappling techniques commonly used in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You'll learn positional control, escapes, pins, turnovers and submissions, with coaching adapted to different experience levels.
Your first session is FREE!
Session Structure - Sundays, 6-8pm
6-7pm: Gi Groundwork
Train in a Judo or BJJ gi, learning and practising groundwork techniques including pins, escapes, turnovers and submissions.
7-8pm: No-Gi Groundwork
Train without a gi, focusing on positional control, escapes, submissions and adapting grappling techniques to no-gi situations.
Who can attend: Everyone, including complete beginners, subject to participation and insurance requirements.
What to bring: Comfortable sports clothing suitable for grappling. A Judo or BJJ gi is recommended for the first hour, and we can lend you one. For no-gi training, bring a T-shirt or rash guard and shorts or suitable sports trousers without zips.

Safety and Insurance
Ground grappling is a contact activity involving physical exertion, joint locks, strangles and other techniques that carry a risk of injury.
All participants must follow the coach's safety instructions, respect their training partners, release submissions immediately when a partner taps and inform the coach of relevant injuries or limitations before training.
Participants must meet the applicable membership, licensing and insurance requirements. British Judo membership provides insurance benefits for eligible participants undertaking recognised Judo activities, subject to the policy terms. Completing the registration form does not itself provide insurance.
Please speak to the committee if you are unsure about your eligibility or insurance requirements.
Photography and Filming
Photography and filming may take place during sessions for Imperial Judo Society's social media, website and promotional materials.
Our registration form includes a separate, optional photography and filming consent question. You can participate without consenting to promotional photography or filming.
Please inform a committee member if you do not wish to be filmed. You can withdraw consent by contacting the committee. We will stop future promotional use based on that consent and address requests concerning previously published material where possible.
Beginners are always welcome!
