Revolt on the streets of France: How students are changing French politics
Students across France have erupted into action. What began as teenagers blockading their secondary schools in protest of their shameful learning conditions has spiralled into a mass movement now incorporating workers and university students alike, united in their abhorrence of the French state’s brutal repression of school students.
90% of universities & nearly 2000 schools have been blockaded during a national day of action on Tuesday. They are all out protesting attacks on the education system, £46bn worth of total cuts by the Macron government and violent police repression. Demands generalised very quickly to encompass anti-fascism, support for Palestine and an alternative to the status quo.
What lessons can we draw from the struggle in France? How can we fight fascism, end austerity and the genocide in Palestine?
