Welcome to Imperial College London

Just got your A-Level results? Been accepted into Imperial? Congratulations! We are Imperial College Union, the students' union for every student at Imperial and we are here to make your time at the College the best it can be.

Our job is to enhance the student experience at Imperial.

So what are we all about?

In simple terms our job is to enhance the student experience for every one of our 17,000 members by being the voice for all students at Imperial and helping to build a welcoming and inclusive student community. From running lots of great events during Welcome Week to coordinating our vast Academic Representation Network, we are about every part of your student life be it socialising, learning new skills or making your department better. We are student-led and are proud of having the highest election turnout in England and Wales!

How can I get involved?

It's easy - you are automatically a member of Imperial College Union as a student at Imperial. But for those of you that can't wait, here's a little checklist of what we suggest you do to get your time at Imperial off to a flying start:

  • Join the official Freshers' Facebook Group for Imperial and join in the conversation with your fellow starting students.
  • Follow your Union on Facebook and Twitter for the latest updates and news about what's going on in the lead up to Welcome Week.
  • Meet your Officer Trustees, fellow students that have taken a year out of their studies to lead Imperial College Union. You will see them on the Freshers' Facebook Group and are always willing to answer any questions you have.
  • Visit the College's New Students homepage. This contains every piece of information that you need as a new student at Imperial College London.
  • Have a look at our Club, Society & Project A-Z where you can see every one of our 340+ activities you can get involved with come October.
  • Check out our Volunteering pages as well to find out about fun volunteering opportunities, and how to get recognised for the volunteering you do.

What next?

There are a couple of things to keep an eye out for...

  • You can vist our Welcome website from next week to get all the information about being part of the students' union, as well as what's happening during  Welcome Week .
  • Look out for Mums and Dads - it's our buddy scheme that will get you paired up with returning students to create a ready made family for you! You are automatically registered to this scheme as a starting student, but by logging in to the system and telling us about your interests we will be able to find you and even better match.

Imperial College London will be sending out welcome emails to you over the next few weeks with even more information. If you still have questions then do not hesitate to  contact us !

Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS on being accepted to one of the best universities in the world. We can't wait to welcome you in October!

In the run up to Welcome Week, keep an eye out for our hashtag #helloicu on Twitter (@icunion), and update on our Facebook page (facebook.com/imperialcollegeunion). You can also check out our Officer Trustees' blogs to see what they're up to at imperialcollegeunion.org/blogs.
