Record number of Student Academic Choice Award nominations!

More students than ever before have nominated their favourite lecturers, tutors and support staff for a Student Academic Choice Award!

Nominations closed on Friday for the 2015 cycle of the Student Academic Choice Awards, the student-led opportunity to celebrate and reward excellence amongst College staff.

808 nominations were received, from every faculty, department and campus in Imperial College London - including Horizons, Centre for Educational Development, Silwood, and several Medicine teaching & research hospitals.

808 nominations were sent in by 586 students, with 407 members of staff receiving a nomination.

The most popular member of staff - a lecturer for a Medicine Master's course in Hammersmith - received 20 nominations, and the department with the most nominations was Life Sciences with 86 nominations received. The most popular category was Best Teaching for Undergraduates with over 300 nominations, and over 100 for the PhD-only Best Supervision category.

Every single one of the 407 staff members who received a nomination will get a SACAs "We Think You're Great" Mug as a sign of the appreciation their students have for them.

Now that nominations have closed, panels of Academic Representatives will meet in student-led sessions to decide the shortlist of six people for each category.

The SACAs Shortlists will be revealed in the coming weeks - keep an eye out here to see if your nominee has made it to the SACAs Ceremony!
