Shinai & Tsuba

Shinai & Tsuba (竹刀 & 鍔) Central to the practice of kendo, the Shinai is a bamboo sword designed for safe training and competition, simulating the feel of a traditional katana. Accompanying it is the Tsuba, a protective disc serving as a handguard. Positioned between the Shinai's handle and blade, the Tsuba ensures the practitioner's hand is safeguarded from inadvertent strikes during bouts.
