Training for Reps

For specific training resources to help you write effective manifestos or run great campaigns, please visit the AE19 section of our Training Hub

Imperial College Union offers comprehensive training for Student Representatives, with tailored programmes for Academic Reps, Wellbeing Reps, Liberation & Community Officers, and Council Representatives. We ask that all Reps attend training in order to understand their position in the larger network of Reps, learn about Imperial College Union processes, meet their fellow Reps, and learn how to be successful in their role.

As well as role-specific training, Imperial College Union also offers skills-based training, supporting our Reps to develop skills such as public speaking, leadership, and time management.

Training for Undergraduate Academic and Wellbeing Representatives is compulsory.  Training will offered on multiple dates throughout October and November.

Elections Management

The Autumn Elections 2019 are governed by a Returning Officer who is responsible for ensuring the elections are free and fair. The Returning Officer for Autumn Elections 2019 is Deborah Evanson, Press and Communications Manager at College. The Returning Officer will make the final and binding decision on any rule breaches or complex queries raised by candidates and members.

The Returning Officer appoints two Deputy Returning Officers, members of Imperial College Union staff, to operate the elections on a day-to-day basis, answer queries from candidates and voters, and make rulings on complaints and rule breaches. The Deputy Returning Officers are Neha Ghandi (Finance Manager) and Tom Newman (Head of Student Experience).

The Returning and Deputy Returning Officers can be contacted on elections@imperial.ac.uk.
