Emerging Leaders Workshops

Our workshops are designed to be highly interactive and to give you the right mix of theoretical background and hands-on activities. We use a blended learning approach, ensuring you are offered a variety of activities and tools to suit your individual learning style. 

Our sessions have been designed in collaboration with the ILM, ensuring that you receive a top quality educational experience. 

Our workshops for 2019-20 are:

  • Exploring Leadership 

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:

    • Discuss a variety of leadership theories and definitions​
    • Translate leadership principles into practical on-the-job behaviours​
    • Select the most appropriate leadership style in relation to a given situation​
    • Reflect on 21st century challenges and Industry 4.0 in relation to leadership
    • Review your leadership skills and identify areas for development
  • Developing Projects

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:

    • Identify the various stages of a project's lifecycle​
    • Complete a Project Charter including stakeholders, aims, risks and success criteria​
    • Develop an idea into a plan through a work breakdown structure​
    • Use a series of cloud-based and static project planning tools
    • Apply tools and methodologies to real-life projects​
  • Creating Social Change

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:

    • Identify the stages that social movements go through to bring around change
    • Explore the relationship between social movements and their role in social change
    • Explore the roles you can play in creating social change
    • Discover methods that create social change
    • Apply knowledge to produce a plan for campaign or project
  • Speaking with Confidence 

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:

    • Consider what makes a good speech/presentation
    • Sound definite and enthusiastic through clear speech and pitch
    • Make your message memorable and engaging for audiences
    • Use voice and gestures effectively to enhance your delivery
    • Practice techniques to offset nervousness in delivery
  • Developing Emotional Intelligence

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:

    • Consider the importance of feedback and apply it to your advantage​
    • Assess your strengths and areas for development
    • Be aware of your own emotions and manage your own behaviour​
    • Define social awareness and how it can be developed
    • Explore relationship management skills and how they can be enhanced
  • Leading with Inclusivity

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:​

    • Consider dimensions of diversity, equality and inclusion​ 
    • Identify traits of inclusive leadership​
    • Consider how unconscious bias can be challenged​
    • Practice a repertoire of strategies to become a more inclusive leader
  • Creating Effective Teams

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:​

    • Identify what makes teams effective or ineffective and devise strategies for optimising team performance
    • Recognise groupthink dynamics and devise strategies for contrasting them​
    • Analyse team roles and use them to create balanced teams​
    • Analyse the way you work in a real teamwork situation and consider areas for development
  • Resolving Conflict

    By the end of this workshop you will be better able to:​

    • Consider negative and positive aspects of conflict
    • Identify sources of conflict and possible solutions​
    • Consider your style of dealing with conflict​
    • Identify behaviours and skills of 'Win-Win' solutions
    • Explore practical steps to effective conflict resolution
