Brought together at Imperial College for the first time on the same date (16/03/19) - the London stop of the Ig Nobel Awards Tour Show, and the London Festival of Bad Ad Hoc Hypotheses.
Ig Nobel Awards Tour Show: Now in its 14th year at Imperial, this is a show that seeks to make you laugh, then make you think. The show is hosted by Ig Nobel founder Marc Abrahams, who will be joined on stage by past Ig Nobel winners James Heathcote (why do old men have big ears?), Marisa López-Tejón and Alex Garcia-Faura (vagina music, for fetuses), and James Cole (nutritional value of human cannibalism). Also on stage: Andrew George (UK premiere of chorus-enhanced 'Tay Bridge Disaster') and Robert Ewers (Boring Speakers Talk for Longer). More details: www.improbable.com/ig/
BAHFest: The Festival of Bad Ad hoc Hypotheses is making a 4th appearance at Imperial. BAHFest is a celebration of well-argued and thoroughly researched but completely incorrect scientific theory. Our brave speakers present their bad theories in front of a live audience and a panel of judges with real science credentials, who together determine who takes home the coveted BAHFest trophy. And eternal glory, of course. For clips from last year's show, and bios of this year's judges, check out london.bahfest.com.
Where and When: Both shows will take place in the Great Hall of Imperial College. The Ig Nobel show will start at 15:00 (doors open from 14:00) and will finish by 17:00. There will then be an intermission. BAHFest will start at 19:00, (doors open from 18:00) and will finish by 21:00. After the show, the h-bar will be open for attendees, and there will be a book signing with several of our judges and speakers. Books can be bought in advance, and a limited number will be available to buy on the day.
