Tom - Deputy President (Clubs & Societies)

Hello everyone - I'm Tom

The next Deputy President (Clubs & Societies) is James Medler.
James will take up his role on 1 August 2018. Read his manifesto here.

As Deputy President (Clubs & Societies), I'm running around London looking after our 370+ Clubs, Societies & Projects, helping them recruit members, put on events, run competitions, attract sponsors, arrange socials and keep their finances in order. That's just the start!

I ran for this role as extra-curricular activities were a huge part of my life as a student - possibly too huge! Clubs, Societies & Projects make Imperial life what it is and I wanted to do my part in keeping this community growing and developing.

My goals

Every Officer Trustee sets several goals at the start of each year - goals they will work towards individually, and ones they will work on achieving collectively. These are the priorities I set for myself this year, as well as those I'll work on in partnership with the rest of the Officer Trustee team. You can get more information on each goal - and the progress I have made towards it so far - on my Officer Trustee Goals page.

You can also read my original Manifesto for when I ran for Deputy President (Clubs & Societies) here.

Our Strategy and Values

Everything Imperial College Union does is guided by Our Strategy 2017-20, launched in January 2017 after extensive consultation with our members and volunteers. Our Strategy sets out how we will transform the Imperial experience. For me as Deputy President (Clubs & Societies), Our Strategy gives me high-level aims such as developing our volunteer training programme, providing better systems for our student groups, and encouraging an Imperial-for-life mindset in our members.

I do my best to keep the Union's values in mind when I'm working - especially Leadership. With 370+ student groups to support, we need everyone to be at the top of their game and taking the initiative to develop their club to its full potential - valuable leadership experience that helps our graduates kickstart their personal growth and career development. While having fun, of course.

Want my job?

Brilliant... Are you sure?

Only joking - being Deputy President (Clubs & Societies) is possibly one the most varied, challenging and entertaining jobs anywhere in the world. You can contact me via email and Twitter, and there will be opportunities to meet me and my fellow Officer Trustees and learn more about what we do throughout the Leadership Elections 2018.

Get in touch

Want to start a new club, find a new sport, or get help in putting on an event or competition? That's why I'm here!

Every time I think we have every possible society, someone thinks of a new one. If that's you, you can get in touch with me in lots of ways - in person at an Imperial College Union event such as Union Council, by email, by Twitter or through the Imperial College Union Facebook page
