To all my fellow aspiring bioengineers, I hope the year has been good to you so far as we are nearing closer to the end of yet another term. My name is Nicolas, I am 22 years old from Cyprus, and I will be running for the position of departmental academic representative.
Over the past two years, I have learned a lot that I believe will allow me to successfully stand for this position and represent you competently. I took the initiative of being a year representative as a first year student, attending all of the student-staff committee meetings. As a result I have gained a lot of insight into how the department runs and have considered the different ways we can make it function more efficiently.
It’s time for the department to release the course regulations before the year starts.
It’s time for clearer return dates on provisional exam results.
It’s time for an earlier release date of exam timetables.
Our department’s academic excellence is what makes it stand out from the rest of the playing field, but in order to maintain that level of success, we must continue to improve from within and that cannot be achieved without a strong and effectual student leadership.
I look forward to undertaking this role in my 3rd year and I promise that I will do everything I can to represent every single one of you. Feel free to give me a shout and discuss with me anytime.
