Hi! My name is Cerys and I’m a 3rd Year Molecular Bioengineer.
I’m running for Vice President because I want to build on the wonderful student community we have in Bioengineering and help to make all the events we hold a big success.
I have the unique advantage of having studied a year of both Molecular Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering after switching courses. This means I have a strong understanding of the needs of each course which will help me address a wide variety of issues and provide opportunities relevant to all students.
I also have experience in events organisation after being Hockey Tour Organiser last year, giving me the skills needed to ensure the smooth running of the society and all its events.
If elected I would aim to:
-Create a resource for students looking for internships/UROP’s. This would contain information from those who have previously completed placements including the type of work, what they learnt, etc. I hope this would help to advertise the opportunities available in Bioengineering and allow students to find the right type of placement for them.
-Be a voice for Molecular Bioengineers! We’re a rapidly growing course that is largely underrepresented within the society. I’d like to change this to ensure all our issues are highlighted and particularly address problems with communication within the department. I’d also aim to get more molecular based companies to attend careers events.
-Make Christmas dinner the best we’ve ever had.
