Happy New Year from Imperial College Union! The 2008 spring term looks set to be a great one for Imperial College Union, with our busiest term of activities, entertainments and events yet. Plus we have started our build up to the largest event of the year, the Imperial College London Summer Ball!

Building Redevelopment

Last term finished with some very good news for our Union. Last term the President submitted a revised bid for funds to the College so that we could proceed with the second stage of the Beit Redevelopment project and this bid was approved to the tune of £1.93m. The focal point of this project will be the installation of a mezzanine in what is currently the Union gym which will be the home of a brand new Student Activities Centre. The statistics show you to be the most active student body in the country when it comes to participating in Clubs and Societies, which is why we are delighted that we now have the funds in place to give your facilities a much needed upgrade. The work is initially scheduled to be completed by January 2009 so this will be of benefit to all non-finalists, whilst continuing to show Imperial College Union's commitment to its UK leading student activities programme.

This term will see the plans take on a more detailed format with our newly formed board working closely with our architects to put the plans of this project into fruition. The tendering process for the building works is also taking place this term.

Entertainments

The spring term is always a great term for partying and this year we have an amazing line up of entertainments for you. Our most exciting new addition is a residency from Radio 1's Colin Murray! Colin will be playing two Friday nights this term, January 18th and March 17th, tickets will be on sale soon so look out for them as they will be going quickly. Our full term line up can be seen at our ents site.

Imperial College London Summer Ball 2008

The Imperial College London Summer Ball is the biggest student ball in London and the biggest and best night in Imperial's calender. Last year's ball was our biggest yet and this year's looks set to be even bigger. Tickets are on sale now at special advance ticket prices, we encourage you to get yours early to make a saving and to ensure you don't miss your chance. Dinner tickets always sell out and will do again this year despite our increased capacity! Keep a look out for more details on the Summer Ball as we announce them.
