MusicSoc AGM 2011

Agm Banner With Logo

It has come to that time of year again and the infamous ICSM Music Society AGM is upon us! If you have yet to experience possibly the best Music Society event of the year, then I'm sure you've heard the stories... if not, just ask Aislinn O'Malley... AGM's are usually associated with boring meetings. Not ours. We indulge in a three course dinner, copious amounts of vino and champagne, a talk from our surprise guest speaker and then we all have a bit of a dance...

After last year's successful move out of the Union to The Rembrandt Hotel in South Kensington, we are pleased to be back there again this year. For the newer members of the society, this is a lovely hotel opposite the V&A Museum on Knightbridge.

When: Thursday 12th May 2011. AGM: 6pm, Champagne Reception: 7.30pm
Where: The Rembrandt Hotel, 11 Thurloe Place, London, SW7 2RS
Dress: Black Tie
Cost: £35 including champagne and half a bottle of wine, £30 with soft drinks only.

Why you should come: All the above
Why you shouldn't come: It's your wedding day/you have a court appearance/you are embarrassed to come out of the house because you are lame.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. I have exams at some point over the two months after this event, should I stay at home and revise as I am definitely going to fail?

No. It is a great night, and we all need a break from the library/Webct.

2. Will the dinner be 'serious' as we are in a nice hotel?

No. The hotel functions are run by an Imperial Gradute... Need I say more.

3. What is the after dinner entertainment?
We will firstly have a guest speaker then there will be a dance floor at the venue so time to crack out those cheesy tunes and dance moves.

5. Can I bring loved ones or significant others?

Yes...

6. Can I stand up and try and talk over the after dinner speaker during the speech?

This is generally discouraged, although Aislinn O'Malley is the expert, so we suggest seeking her advice.

7. Will drinks be expensive in the hotel?

Should you require a further tipple in addition to the included wine and champagne then we will have our own bar. It is no more expensive that most pubs in central London, so unfortunately a little bit more than the union; a pint is around £3.50.
