As a society we organise visits to a range of educational and recreational lectures throughout London and invite well-known explorers to share their experiences with us at Imperial. For those inspired to organise their own expeditions we can provide the support needed to prepare and submit a proposal to the College Exploration Board, whose approval and financial support is a great starting point for any trip. In recent years members have organized trips kayaking in Canada, mountaineering in the Himalaya, Greenland and Bolivia, bridge building in Malawi and rock climbing in Morrocco.
Whilst we don't organise expeditions as a society, we hope to run three tours throughout the 2010-11: Winter ice climbing, Spring Ski-mountaineering and Summer sea kayaking. All of which will be aimed at developing exploration skills.
Look out for us at Freshers Fair were you'll be able to track updates from the 2010 IC Obra Valley expedition - a mountaineering expedition attempting unclimbed peaks in the Indian Himalaya.
