The Chamber Choir provides opportunities for Imperial students to sing choral music in small, intimate groups.
The society runs an auditioned choir, consisting of about 30 members. We sing a wide range of repertoire, ranging from Victoria and Mozart to Whitacre and the Swingle Singers. In addition to the choir, the society runs regular workshops to introduce this repertoire to those new to singing. The choir performs termly concerts and performs at many formal college events, including the college’s annual carol service. Over recent years, we have also collaborated with external groups; for example London Youth Opera. We tour twice a year – in 2010/2011 touring the Derbyshire and Croatia.
The choir is renowned for frequenting nearby establishments which exist for the purposes of imbibment and merrymaking. This impressive audience outreach programme frequently raises many rounds of complimentary drinks, from pleased local proprietors.
