Boat

ACC BoatImperial College Boat Club is one of the top boat clubs in the UK. Head on the heels of a win in the Visitors' Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta 2008, the 2008-2009 season is already shaping up to be an exciting year for the club. Several members of the club competed for Great Britain over the summer - at both the world championships in Linz and at the European Universities Rowing Championships in Zagreb.

The boathouse is ideally situated on Putney Embankment, providing a great opportunity to train and race on the stretch of the Thames used for the annual Cambridge-Oxford Boat Race. It houses 80 racing boats, a state-of-the-art gym, clubroom, physiotherapy room, workshop and changing rooms.

The club caters for all types of abilities, big or small, experienced or not, all are welcome. Training starts in October and novices typically train two or three times a week alongside the senior members of the club - who train in the mornings and evenings throughout the week. Like all other sports clubs at Imperial, the social side is very important. Members congregate in the local pubs of Putney every week, and after every big race there is always a post-race party.
