Volunteer Student Officers

What do student officers do?

They have many responsibities covering things like bars, non-commercial services, academic representation, issues relating to accomodation, and so on. These are different to Club Officers who represent their clubs/societies, volunteer officers have the greater responsibility in that they are capable of affecting with real impact the way the Students' Union is run and defining the voice we put across to the College with respect to issues such as the recent Dress Code, or perhaps the smoking ban in the Union building.

Other smaller more 'specialist' issues could cover disability access and provisions for students and staff on campus or opening hours of learning facilities such as departments and library. The bike storage facility on campus underneath the Faculty Building was a result of negotiations between the Union and the College - proof that we can make a difference!
