Fun’s not just had in front of the bar you know… our Union is only as fun as you want to make it and while everyone’s got a job to do, it doesn’t mean that it’s all work and no play! Working for the Union doesn’t just mean working in the bar either; opportunities exist in many departments and we aim to employ students wherever possible to encourage participation in the Students' Union.

We hold a recruitment day the week before term starts where you can come along and meet the line managers and ask them questions about what employment opportunities their departments all offer; but if you can’t make it or you decide later on that you want to join us just pop into wherever you want to work and the staff there will be happy to talk to you! Alternatively send an email to the Deputy President (Finance & Services) at dpfs@imperial.ac.uk and he’ll forward your enquiry to the relevant department.

For those students who are on outlying campuses such as Wye, Hammersmith, St Mary’s, etc who are interested in working for your relevant campus approach your senior campus representative or the bar manager of the campus and he/she can point you in the right direction.

What can you do?

Union shop

Part time staff at the Union can work anywhere from two to twenty hours a week and pay rates are competitive with the real marketplace. We also try to be as flexible as possible to the commitment that you have to make on a week by week basis in case your work accumulates unexpectedly.

Opportunities exist in our Bars & Catering areas for the fun-loving creatures of the night; or if you’re hot on a set of decks our Ents department might be the place for you.

Venue Management is always on the lookout for new recruits, and for those of you who’ve got input ideas or just want to put up posters and do publicity work, Marketing might be your thing.

The Union Shop is situated on the walkway might be your home if ‘shop assistant’ is a title you’d prefer to ‘building steward’. If those haven’t caught your interest or you just feel like something else then perhaps Student Services can help you find a place in our Student Activities Centre during the lunch breaks and in the evenings or maybe up in the main Union reception in the evenings aswell.
