Reuse and Recycle Halls Campaign
Friday 18 Jun 2010

Screen Reuse

Last year was the first year that Imperial College engaged the Charity 'CRISP' and introduced the end-of-year reuse scheme to our halls of residence.
Donations from students totalled 6.281 tonnes of which 89.7% of the items were re-used which was 13.1% above the average of the 10 universities that CRISP assisted that year. Imperial College students donated an average of 3.35kg each, the average across other universities was 2.51kg. See the website for further details:
This was an impressive achievement and we hope to build on that success this year.
Posters have been distributed in halls to indicate each donation area. All students can assist the project by promoting it to fellow students, by keeping an eye on the donation points to ensure they are tidy, but most of all by donating unwanted items!

Most items in good condition can be reused; these include - kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, bedding, electrical equipment, books & stationery, clothes, shoes, CDs, DVDs, unused toiletries, non-perishable sealed/canned food, unused, cleaning products, furniture and bric-a-brac.

We hope that with your help we will surpass last year's achievement.
Alongside the reuse scheme we will be continuing to promote recycling. Bags for mixed recycling have also been distributed to each room.

Thank you for your support!
