Women In SET

Hi there, we are the IC Women in Science, Engineering and Technology society. We organise plenty of events for women scientists and engineers, although anyone is welcome to come! Our annual events include: a symposium for students interested in research and academia, with prominent women scientists on the panel; networking evenings with various speakers from industry, covering all science and engineering disciplines; workshops focusing on CV’s and job applications as well as well as softer skills and awareness which will help you find a job in engineering and science.

Another major part of what we do is work with schools to encourage more girls to choose engineering and science degrees at university. As part of this we organise two open days for schools, with fun activities, lab demonstrations, hands-on experiments and much more. These open days are run with the help of a large number of volunteer students from IC, who help out during the day. We also send students to visit schools and talk about engineering and science.
So if you’re interested in working with schools, meeting people from your field currently working in industry, or are inspired by research and academia, or just want to come to one of our fabulous cocktail nights and social events, check us out at the fresher’s fair or drop us an e-mail at women.set@imperial.ac.uk!
