Imperial College Wind Band is an un-auditioned group of around 50 woodwind, brass and percussion players who meet weekly to rehearse a wide variety of music including concertos, arrangements of classical favorites, medleys of musicals and film scores as well as original wind band music. We aim to offer a challenge to every musician irrespective of previous experience.
As well as holding a concert in college at the end of each term and playing at venues away from campus, last year we had the great opportunity to play with the Band of the Coldstream Guards for the second time in the prestigious Wind Power 2 concert. We also went on tour for the first time ever, visiting a band in Luxembourg to give a joint concert and making the most of a social weekend away.
Wind Band also love busking and performing in the finale concert as part of Artsfest. Musicians of all abilities are welcome to join the band and current members range from beginners and returning players to seasoned orchestral musicians.
We rehearse every week in term time on Tuesday evenings 6 - 8:15pm and then go for a drink in a local bar, letting off steam and having a natter. Regular socials are organised each term - last year included several meals out and attending a concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
So if you want to play a variety of music without pressure, have fun and make new friends, come and join in. You can find out details about our next rehearsal from our website.
