Opera (Medics)
ICSM Light Opera Society- the society to meet all your musical and DIY needs.
Every year, we produce a musical in just 7 weeks and perform it over 5 nights- the infamous “Opera Week”, guaranteed to be the best week of your life*. Past productions, have delved into leg warmers, sewers and cockney rhyming slang to deliver classics such as ”Fame”, ”Guys & Dolls” and ”My Fair Lady”.
We emphasize the “Light” in our name with post-rehearsal bonding and “Tour”. Last year's tour delivered a man dressed as ketchup and things that would scar your retinas. With your help, we can do so much more...
Throughout the year we also organise events such as our Annual Black Tie Dinner, theatre trip and most importantly: 24 Hour Opera. This is exactly what it says on the tin - a musical produced from scratch in 24 hours - all dances/songs learnt, set built, costumes made and body weight in red bull consumed; with proceeds going to charity.
So, if you can sing/dance/act/throw spectacular diva-esque strops, have spectacular brass skills (sexual favours promised), can wield a hammer, sew in a straight line or control technical things like Yoda with a light sabre, Light Opera is for you!
Don't worry if you haven't done anything like this before: cast, band, backstage, costume, and tech - we all love Opera virgins!
