Chamber Choir
Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir is the only auditioned group in the Music Society and consists of up to 18 members (6 sopranos, 4 altos, 4 tenors and 4 basses). We rehearse from 6.30-7.30pm on Monday evenings before the main choir. Auditions for places in the Chamber Choir take place in October - look out for more information at Freshers Fayre. Auditions for individual places (if a vacancy becomes available) may also take place during the year.
The Chamber Choir's repertoire consists mainly of sacred and secular close-harmony pieces, more suited to a small ensemble than a big choir. The Chamber Choir also sings monthly choral evensongs, this year to be held at St. Mary's Chapel.
Ed Hughes
The current director of the ICSM Chamber Choir is Ed Hughes. Please e-mail him if you have any queries or would like more information.
Ed has been involved extensively with music at Imperial since joining in 2005; performing in Imperial College choir and chamber choir, ICSO, Medic’s choir and orchestra. He also performs regularly with prestigious close-harmony octet Harmaphrodite. Singing in choirs since the age of 8, Ed has an extensive range of repertoire to call on, from Mozart to Michael Jackson, from Bach to Beatles.
Ed is, by his own admission, an inexperienced conductor and is better known as Tenor soloist and vocal coach. He has a growing reputation, performing solos regularly with choirs and choral societies in London and the South East. He has spent the summer conducting and running the SILC (Stuck in London choir), which has been an invaluable experience and cannot wait to start conducting the chamber choir.
