Jazz Big Band
The big band is one of the most active musical societies at Imperial College, performing throughout the academic year at a variety of venues. Our constantly expanding repertoire includes arrangements made famous by the likes of Gordon Goodwin, Buddy Rich and Frank Sinatra. The big band’s very popular gigs form an integral part of the Union entertainment calendar, culminating in our performance at the Summer Ball.
Over the past couple of years we have played exchange gigs with Surrey University and the Royal College of Art and have performed a number of new pieces written for the band. This summer we are joining Sinfonietta for our annual tour andwill be visiting Romania. The band has a very active social life revolving around rehearsals, performances and going to see jazz gigs around London.
