Imperial College Hindu Society aims to promote, practice and protect the Hindu faith within the university environment whilst promoting unity amongst the Hindu youth. We provide our members with many different ways to keep in touch with their faith as well as have fun and make new friends.
The year kicks off with our welcome dinner; join in with the fun and games alongside a delicious Indian buffet which will go down nicely especially for those of us missing home-cooked food! Next up is our biggest and most famous event celebrating Diwali, which is the Ujaali Garba! The Garba attracts hundreds of students each year and provides a night filled with performances, and traditional folk dances such as garba and dandiya. It is always classed as one of the highlights of the student year.
Through the year the society regularly holds spiritual discussion groups, prayers, pujas and aartis which are popular and well attended by our members. The year ends with our Sanskriti dinner where we look back at all the fun we've had during the year and enjoy some great Indian food.
We take part in national initiatives such as the annual NHSF sports competition and SEWA week, where our members do a range of activities helping good causes both in the UK and abroad. We always try and make our events entertaining and interesting and we welcome all different kinds of people to our society including both Hindus and non-Hindus alike.
So...find us at the freshers fair, sign up and become a part of the big Hindu society family!
