Dance Company
Dance Company offers classes in ballet, tap and contemporary genres. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you are a complete novice or a more advanced dancer, as we cater for different technical levels. Each year we aim to organise workshops and classes run by professional guest teachers.
Previous workshops have included contemporary improvisation techniques and classical Indian dance. Members associated with the Royal Academy of Dance and English National Ballet have also taken regular ballet classes. Dance Company provides an opportunity for everyone to perform in annual events, such as ArtsFest and International Nite.
We run a “Schools Tour” through the Imperial Volunteering Centre, which involves running workshops in London schools for children of various ages. Here, everyone is encouraged to try their hand at performing and teaching.
Also, Dance Company has had great successes at the annual Edinburgh Dance-Off Competition. Last year, we scooped 5 out of the available 7 trophies. We hope to hold our reign in the coming year! The first week of dancing is completely free, so come along and try out the various styles. Classes are held in the JCR every Sunday during term time.
