Chess
Imperial Chess Club is a vibrant club that caters for players of all abilities. Whether you’re new to the game and looking to improve your skills or an old hand in search of some competition, Chess Club is the place to go. As well as weekly club nights we also hold regular blitz tournaments and have teams representing Imperial in the ULU and Middlesex leagues. Many of our regular players graduated last year so our team captains are very much on the look out for new talent.
Joining the chess club will also give you the unique opportunity to take on Imperial’s resident Grandmaster in the annual Mestel Challenge. Other events taking place this year are the Freshers’ tournament, the interuniversity rapidplay championships and the Valentine Cup where we go head to head against Oxford. Chess Club is very active at the moment so now is a great time to be involved in it.
