Boat

Imperial College Boat Club is one of the top boat clubs in the UK and is one of British Rowing's high performance centres. The past year has been a successful one for the club, for all levels of athlete, from complete novices to world-class, in both the winter head race season (time trials) and the summer regatta season (side-by-side racing). Hot on its heels, the 2011/12 season is already shaping up to be an exciting one. Over the summer, members of the club have been competing for Great Britain at the Under 23 and Senior World and European Championships.

The boathouse is perfectly situated on Putney Embankment, providing a great location to train and race on the river Thames. The club has more than 80 racing boats, a state-of-the-art gym, changing rooms, clubroom, physiotherapy room and workshop.

The club caters for all abilities, big or small, experienced or novice; everyone is welcome. Training starts in October and novices typically train two or three times a week alongside the senior members of the club - who train in the mornings and evenings throughout the week. The social side of the Boat Club is very important. Members get together in the local pubs of Putney every week, there are often barbecues in the summer and, after every race, there is always a party.
