Women In SET
WSET have today launched a photography exhibition in the Business School Entrance.
WSET (Women in Science, Engineering and Technology) student society has organized a Photography Competition and Exhibition- We.Are.Science for International Women’s Day 2010. The theme of the exhibition is ‘Women in Science.’ Over the past few weeks, students and staff have been invited to submit their photographic representation of the exhibition theme. A panel of judges picked the top 30 entries including a first prize winner and two runner up winners. The Mayor of London’s Cultural Advisor, Munira Mirza will open the exhibition on International Women’s Day and the photographs will be on display from 8th to 12th March in the Business School Entrance.
‘We.Are.Science’ taps into the creativity and artistic perceptions of students and staff at Imperial College London, to explore issues related to gender and equality in science and engineering. This project also highlights the efforts made by the College to achieve a balanced workforce in these sectors. It follows on from the success of ‘100 Women - 100 Visions’, a professional portrait series of women scientists and engineers from all academic levels commissioned by WSET during 2009, which is currently on exhibit in London’s City Hall.
This event is sponsored by the Imperial College Union Representation and Welfare Board, IBM and the Old Centralians’ Trust.
